At the recent Albion Venture Capital Trust PLC AGM on 27th July 2009, a presentation was made by Patrick Reeve, Managing Partner of Albion. Patrick covers a corporate overview, annual results of the Albion Venture Capital Trust and a portfolio update, highlighting in detail some examples of our investee companies. Albion has announced that it is launching a £25 million share issue for Albion Development VCT plc through a new issue of D shares during Autumn 2009. This is the fourth share issue since Albion Development VCT was launched in 1999. The new D shares will eventually merge with the existing ordinary shares after five years. This is Albion's first fundraising following the management buyout of Close Ventures in January 2009. Albion announces that it is investing £1.5 million into medical software company Mirada Medical to fund its MBO from Siemens. Mirada has developed software that allows medical images from multiple sources to provide greater clinical accuracy in diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. Currently, scanning from MRI, CT or PET has specific advantages and disadvantages when imaging certain parts of the body.
