Albion exits Berkley Care for 2.5x return

Albion has made a successful exit from its investment in three high-end care homes managed by Berkley Care Group, the boutique care home operator.

The care homes with a total of 201 beds have been sold to Korian SA, the leading European care services group for elderly and fragile people, for an undisclosed sum.

The Berkley Care Group was founded by entrepreneur Seamus Halton and now consists of six modern, purpose-built facilities across the South, South West and Midlands offering luxury living with an excellent level of care.

Korian is a company headquartered in France and quoted on Paris Euronext, with over 1,000 care facilities across six European countries. Albion first partnered with Berkley Care Group in 2014 and provided funding in several tranches. The sale has realised a total return of 2.5 times for Albion’s VCT investors

Seamus Halton, founder and executive chairman of Berkley Care Group commented:

I have worked with Albion for over 10 years during which time I founded and built Berkley Care Group to become one of the leading and most innovative care providers in the UK. Albion is a trusted business partner, who helped me realise my vision for Berkley by being both challenging and supportive, engaged and committed. The Berkley Care Group has always been committed to offering the very best level of service to its residents and we know that Korian shares the same commitment and values.
